Oklahoma's private sector follows federal OSHA (29 CFR 1910.151(b)): no fixed ratio, but employers must keep one or more adequately trained first-aiders on staff whenever there is no infirmary, clinic or hospital in near proximity. Public employees are covered instead by PEOSH under the Oklahoma Department of Labor.

Under Oklahoma Administrative Code 340:110-3-283 and 340:110-3-284, at least one staff member with current age-appropriate CPR and first aid certification must be present with children at all times — on-site in each building, off-site, and in each vehicle. Oversight rests with the Department of Human Services (DHS), Child Care Services.

The Oklahoma Good Samaritan Act (76 O.S. § 5) protects a person who in good faith, voluntarily and without compensation renders emergency care from liability, except for gross negligence or willful or wanton wrongs. The same framework provides AED immunity for good-faith use outside a medical facility.

The Oklahoma Board of Nursing lets registered nurses satisfy renewal through one 'Continuing Qualifications for Practice' option per cycle (24 contact hours of CE, 520 work hours, a specialty certification, a refresher course, or 6 academic credits), and provider-accredited advanced resuscitation courses can count toward the contact-hours option. Nurse aides must hold a healthcare-provider–level CPR/BLS certification to complete their credential.

In Oklahoma, assisted-living centers, residential care homes, memory-care and home-health settings require care staff to hold a CPR for healthcare providers (BLS) certification, which is needed to complete the certified nurse-aide credential. The state's six aide types — including Residential Care Aide (RCA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) — staff these settings serving vulnerable adults and seniors.

In Oklahoma, foster parents complete pre-service training through OKDHS, and first-aid and CPR certification is required for specialized foster care providers, while a current certificate is commonly required by the agency for traditional Bridge resource families before a placement. This is recognized by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and its contracted agencies, and the certificate must be kept current from a recognized organization.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Oklahoma for personal, childcare licensing, and employer requirements, with no explicit ban for the workplace requirement — though OSHA recommends a hands-on skills-demonstration component, especially for CPR. Certification is valid for 2 years.
